Yo bro, what’s up?
Another Saturday, and here we are again. Hope you’re hanging in there somewhere too š Heads up though, this one’s gonna be a bit darker than usual. So, as you know, last week we were talking about this Race Condition messāa Mexican standoff x3 between our game-seller homies, this asshole Gemini, Triager Mike, badass hacker myvector, and of course, my poor-ass bank account. The post got ridiculously long, so I was like, “How the fuck are people gonna read all this?” and cut it off. Now we’re in part two. The title of this episode: The Great Collapseā¦
Agent Sesame and The “Not Our Problem” Defense
So dude, last time we left off with bro Mike saying, “My guy, you found such a crazy bug that I can’t even make the call, the CFO of Legendary Games or whoever needs to see this. I’m taking you to the internal network, godspeed,” and he dipped. In his place, dropping “Need more info” like a broken record, arrived a guy who looked like Agent Smith if Agent Smith was made of sesame bread. And he spoke EXACTLY like Gemini.
Like, “My brother, you’re explaining some nice stuff, but dude, all you did was buy different items at the same time?” Bro, I couldn’t get through to them. I’m saying, “Look man, my bank account was constrained. I bought the same items, and you guys got your money, but you WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO GET IT, MAN! Because it wasn’t there to take!” And he didn’t even blink, just clapped back: “That’s your bank being retarded, my guy. Not our problem. I mean, if you got a chargeback or something, we can look into it⦔
Lord give me patience. I turned to Gemini, “Look you little shit, these guys are talking exactly like you, there’s some fuckery here. Are you a double agent? I’ll fuck you up.”
“No bro, I swear I’m not an agent, they just thought of that themselves,” it says. Fucking Kuzuchkin š¤£
Anyway, I said, hold the fuck up, 20 grand is already on the way, let’s just explain it to them since their brains can’t compute. So I start explaining, look, it’s like this and like that. Why the fuck should I have to apply for a recharge and end up in a ‘Bank vs. myvector’ lawsuit, especially with a Turkish bank? You motherfuckers threw the race condition at the bank, not me! š Just make the damn thing atomic and be done with it.
Atomic Transactions and The Reality Check
Them talking out of the side of their mouths like this made me paranoid, bro. “Oh, it’s the bank, it’s not us,” blah blah blah. So I went and thought, “Fuck, are they actually right?” I took the exact same setup to another program just to see if the same system works there⦠I won’t name them, but if I say ‘the motherfuckers who can never release a third game,’ you’ll probably get it heheh. Bro, those guys are just slamming rejections back-to-back. You enter 3 items, you only buy one. You enter 5, you buy one. They are atomic, bro, the bank excuse is absolute bullshit. Honestly, if a security architecture pushes the blame outward, there’s a problem right there. “I do whatever I want, let the other security system fix itself.” Well, what if they didn’t fix it? Someone’s gonna fuck your systems up then!
Long story shortā¦
The Triage Dopamine & The Expectation Trap
Bro, the guy got convinced, aaaaand out of the goodness of his heart, he pulled the severity from ‘None’ (which was dropped from High) up to ‘Low’ and triaged it. And man, it was an unbelievable feeling. Dopamine straight into my lungs, bro, I’m walking on clouds, no shit. The money is coming, it’s practically already spent. I’m so hyped, I’m even making calculations on how to bring it into the country tax-free Hahaha fucking idiocy.
Let me interject here. The expectation trap⦠Expectation lies outside a person’s own boundaries, bro, and it’s an illusion. What are a person’s actual boundaries? Their thoughts, their emotions, and their actions. Stepping outside of those is like walking around claiming to be an admin in a system where you have zero rights. That was basically me. But let’s zoom in on that momentā¦
The Classroom Crash: A $200 Reality
I remember the pain and the anger so clearly, dude. I’m in my last class, got forcefully assigned to a middle school⦠Bro, on one hand, I’ve hit the absolute bottom of the asynchronous life dream. “Man, I think I can actually do this. It’s happening, bro, look at it.” The hype of “Instead of being stuck here, I can freely build a profession.” On the other hand, the struggle of trying to teach manners to 5th graders in a school you never wanted to be in (by the way, I don’t dislike it based on the grade level, I’m just a high school teacher normally)āand the massive slap to the face I just took. My heart rate is spiking. The anger is moving vertically, bro, it hits my eyes, passes through, and goes up. Like, “Just once, man. Just a little fucking justice⦔
Anyway, I finish the last few minutes and head home. Even when I drop a comment just hoping to ask “why?”, I get hit with the “bro, there is no security impact” reply. Even then, Gemini is still dragging me back, like, “Bro, you gotta write professionally. HackerOne can’t handle you bitching at them, look⦔ So I end up writing some “With all due respect, I disagree with you boo-hoo-hoo, I’m going to mediation” bullshit and closing up shop. Honestly, if I just wrote what was in my heart, it would’ve been much higher quality, but we’re learning, I guess. The result? 200 bucks hahah. They tossed me a tenth of what it should’ve beenālike a fucking Ma’aser, the Jewish tithe. Acting like it’s a religious duty, the motherfuckerā¦
Crying in the Egea: The Illusion of “One Day”
Anyway, like I said, this post was gonna be a bit dark. Bro, the evening of the incident and the next morning, I wake up exhausted to my bones. The kid is on one side, my wife on the other, I need to help her but I have zero fucking energy left. None. I just lie there and write down the process step by step. Literally crying⦠(I can’t even remember the last time I cried before this.) Every single detail, dude. Over and over, anger, sadness. Why did I blow it so out of proportion? Exactly because I fabricated this massive narrative in my head.
I couldn’t catch myself just looking at what is. It’s such a deep-rooted story. The “One day something is gonna happen and everything will change” story. There’s no logic or intelligence in it. Look man, let’s say Agent Smith or Sesame Smith actually came and said, “Bro, holy fuck, I’ve never seen a bug like this, never seen a report like this, here’s 30 grand.” What actually changes for you? I’d just do the things I can already do, but slightly more luxuriously. That’s it. I’d still do the exact same shit. I’d wake up, maybe skip work and sit down for bounties⦠I’d still take care of my daughter. I’d still work out, still bullshit with my wife, still do my OMAD bro hahah. I’m already buying what I want, if you look at it, I’m not in desperate need anyway. I mean, I’d move out of an apartment into a villaāwell, bullshit I’d get a villa for 30k, but let’s say it’s 30 million, fuck it. I’d buy a better car. Hahah.
Bro, look at those boundaries, they’re so artificial. The fuck, when the better car becomes a habit, am I gonna buy an even better one? 𤣠There’s this handsome podcaster guy I was listening to the other day, he said this: Imagine two guys, one is crying in a Lambo, the other in a Fiat Egea⦠Who is suffering more? And he continued⦠The guy in the Egea still has a sliver of hope in his head: “If I had a Lambo, I wouldn’t be crying.” The other guy doesn’t even have that left.
Dwarf Sites and Reclaiming the Joy
I’m not writing this for some “I’m so grateful, I’m already doing great” poor man’s consolation. But after this incident, it really started messing with my head: how much more of the present moment am I going to sacrifice chasing the carrot dangled in front of us? What was I selling out? The “now”? And for what? For a person, a company, or some random bullshit to act fairly and hand me money? How deep in the red am I actually?
Now, do I still have the dream of bug hunting, the asynchronous life, financial freedom? Of course I do, man⦠But they aren’t tied to a system anymore. Now, when a triager writes some smartass comment, hitting him back with a ballsy reply is the real joy. Only looking at targets during my free time on weekdays is joy. Sitting down on a weekend to write a blog post like this and taking a break is joy.
Lately, I’m also starting an initiative to slap the shit out of these systems that compete to squeeze pennies out of the most basic, dumbest tasks. I call it ‘Dwarf Sites’āthat’s a joy too. I’m just gonna drop free, useful little sites left and right that do small tasks but aren’t meaningful enough to stand as massive products on their own. Systems that won’t ask me to sign up just because I removed an image background, or won’t hover over me screaming “Bro, you need credits, crediiits!” just because I merged a PDF. Anyway, I’ll tell you about that another time.
In the end, this was just another phase, ended with a lesson. Less crying in the Egea, more bullshitting in it. One day I’ll run into a fair triager, if the Great Spirit wills it, inshallah š
Next week, I’ll tell you how I bypass invoices on one of the biggest e-commerce sites in the world, and how I catch an ‘Informative’ tag AGAIN, and the motherfuckers didn’t even say thank you.
Catch you later. Peace out.
